Lake Nottely is a beautiful mountain lake with clear deep water located entirely in Blairsville, GA. Lake Nottely is 20 miles long and has 4,180 surface acres at normal summer pool elevations. Controlled by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), the water level in Nottely Reservoir varies about 32 feet in a normal year. Full pool is at 1,779 feet above MSL (median sea level).
Approximately 70% of the 106 miles of shoreline is undeveloped and under the jurisdiction of the U.S Forest Service. The Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, which borders a substantial portion of the lake and adds to the scenic quality of the area. In recent years, many new homes and properties have contributed to Lake Nottely's growing importance for recreation.
Lake Nottely is noted for its black and striped bass, walleye, rainbow trout, and bass which the Georgia Fish & Wildlife stocks regularly to enhance fishing opportunities.
Construction of Lake Nottely Dam began in 1941 and completed in 1942. The dam is 184 feet high and stretches 2,300 feet across the Nottely River.
